Northern Counties

In 2018 the Northern Counties Ladies Golf Association amalgamated with the North District Golf Association to form Scottish Golf North, the first mixed district level association in Scotland.

The Northern Counties Ladies Golf Association had been established in 1967 covering all clubs north of the Spey River who were attached to Scottish Golf.

Scottish Golf North has continued the aim of Northern Counties to promote the game of golf to ladies and juniors across seven counties of Scotland with over 62 clubs involved. We aim try to play our fixtures across the area over a period of years.

What Scottish Golf North does for ladies golf

Our overall aim is to promote the game of golf to ladies and junior girls in the Scottish Golf North area.  We aim to do that by providing opportunities for junior girls and ladies to improve their golf by organising competitions to suit all levels and abilities. Keeping members informed of events, competitions and developments within our area, and promoting friendships and fun through playing golf.

Each year the Scottish Golf North Team plays in the Inter-County Championship (Jamboree) against the county teams from Perth & Kinross, Angus and Aberdeenshire.  The winner represents the North of Scotland in the Scottish County Finals played in September against the winners of the South, East and West of Scotland jamborees. The Northern Counties team were the Scottish County Champions in 2009.
