Scottish Golf North Ladies County Championship
The Scottish Golf North Ladies County Championship was held over Forres GC on the 16th / 17th April 2022. Good weather made the Championship a pleasant weekend.
33 Ladies took part playing stroke-play on the Saturday morning with the top 8 scratch and handicap playing the quarter finals match-play in the afternoon.
Sunday morning was the scratch semi-finals between Eleanor Tunn (Reay GC) and Jenny Milne (Elgin GC) with Eleanor Tunn qualifying for her final place. The other semi-final was between Katrina Tan (Nairn GC) and Carinne Taylor (Nairn GC). Carinne Taylor qualifying for the final.
In the handicap match-play semi-finals Hilary Simpson (Kings GC) played Morag Simpson (Nairn GC) with Morag Simpson going through to the final and Margot Barr (Nairn GC) playing Linda Wheeler (Forres GC) with Linda Wheeler qualifying for the final.
In the Scratch final Carinne Taylor Vs Eleanor Tunn the match was played in sunshine and in a very friendly manner both ladies playing well with Carinne managing to hole her puts and Eleanor missing the odd put therefore Carinne ending up victorious and becoming the SG North Ladies Scratch Champion and winning “The Mary Benton Challange Cup”
In the Handicap final Morag Simpson and Linda Wheeler battled over the course with Linda Wheeler being victorious and becoming the SG North Ladies Handicap Champion, winning “The Chetham Trophy”
Well done to both ladies, who are the Scottish Golf’s North Ladies Champions.

Ladies Invergordon Open
A good day was had at Invergordon GC, thank you Invergordon for hosting this event.
Only 12 ladies played but all enjoyed the day.

Eliz Munro (Northern County President)
At the SGL Zoom AGM this year 2021 Eliz Munro was voted in as Senior Vice-President
of the SGL. A honour well deserved, well done Eliz.

Coronavirus cancels all golf for the near future.
The North are to return 50% of subscription fees to clubs to help in these hard times.

Coronavirus has postponed April’s competitions. We hope to rearrange them for later in the year. Plus the Ladies Open on the 1st May at Nairn Dunbar.

Eliz Munro (Moray GC)
At the Scottish Golf AGM held at the Stirling Court Hotel on the 3rd March 2019, Eliz Munro was voted in as Junior Vice-President. An honour well deserved for many years work with Scottish Golf.
Eliz Munro is President of Scottish Golf North and now Junior Vice-President of Scottish Golf as well.
Well done and we wish you all the best in your term of office.
