Scratch Champion Handicap Champion

The Scottish Golf North Ladies County Championship was held over Maverston GC on the 20th / 21st May 2023. Good weather made the Championship a pleasant weekend.
17 Ladies took part playing stroke-play on the Saturday morning with the top 8 scratch and handicap playing the quarter finals match-play in the afternoon.
Sunday morning was the scratch semi-finals between Sammy Fotheringham (Nairn GC) and Eleanor Tunn (Reay GC) with Sammy Fotheringham qualifying for her final place. The other semi-final was between Carinne Taylor (Nairn GC) and Ellie Docherty (Moray GC). Ellie Docherty qualifying for the final.
In the handicap match-play semi-finals Gillian Cruden (Nairn GC) played Ella MacGregor (Brora GC) with Ella MacGregor going through to the final and Rosemary Baillie (Maverston GC) playing Sarah Murray (Nairn Dunbar GC) with Rosemary Baillie qualifying for the final.
In the Scratch final Ellie Docherty Vs Eleanor Tunn the match was played in sunshine and in a very friendly manner both ladies playing well with Ellie managing to get ahead, therefore Ellie Docherty ending up victorious and becoming the SG North Ladies Scratch Champion and winning “The Mary Benton Challange Cup”
In the Handicap final Ella MacGregor and Rosemary Baillie battled over the course with Rosemary being victorious on the 19th hole and becoming the SG North Ladies Handicap Champion, winning “The Chetham Trophy”
Well done to both ladies, who are the Scottish Golf’s North Ladies Champions.
